Welcome to D.A.T.E. - Denver Area Tennis Enthusiasts

Our members primarily are GLBT women and men (you don't have to fit into that category to join DATE, though!) from around Denver who meet 1-2 times a week to play as a group from May through August. The format format varies week to week, but typically we play a round-robin doubles format to maximize the number of people on the courts and help our members meet a lot of different players. All levels of players are welcome, and the primary goal is for each of us to improve our tennis games, meet other players, and to have fun while we're doing it.

DATE is not a member of the United States Tennis Association, (USTA) - we are a simply a private club with our own set of goals and activities . It is not necessary, but if you are interested in being rated by a tennis pro, we recommend the pros at Gates Tennis Center, who can do so for a nominal fee. Knowing the USTA level at which you play helps others place you should you decide to play in a tournament. There are several GLBT tennis tournaments held by different teams around the country (and the world). Check out the Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance website to see if there are tournaments you'd like us to consider attending. Most tournaments are friendly competitions with all levels of players attending. If there is enough interest, DATE players may decide to participate and travel together to one of those tournaments. We are also hosting our initial GLTA tournament this year - the Rocky Mountain Open. Check out the tournament website for more information.

The cost to play with DATE is $30 for the season. The membership fee goes to reserving courts and is requested before the start of the tennis season. Prospective members are always welcome to come out to one of our tennis times and play with the group before deciding whether to join.
